يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ المُصْطَفَى
O our Lord, grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ المُصْطَفَى
وارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا فَنَحْنُ قَومٌ ضُعَفَا
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
r ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā fanaḥnu qawmun ḍuʿafā
Oh our Lord, oh our Lord, help us with the closeness of the Chosen One
And have mercy, my God, on our weakness, for we are a weak people.
نَادَمْتُهُ عَلَى الصَّفَا
فَطَابَ عَيْشِي وَصَفَا
nādamtuhu ʿalaṣ ṣafā
faṭāba ʿayshī waṣafā
I regretted it on the straight path
My life became pleasant and pure
وَكُنْتُ أَهْوَى قُـرْبَهُ
وَوَصْلَهُ فَأسْعَفَا
wakuntu ahwā qurbahu
wawaṣlahu fa asʿafā
And I loved being close to him
And he reached him and helped him
ولَيْسَ عِنْدِي حَالَةٌ
تُوحِشُنِي مِثْلُ الجَفَا
wlaysa ʿindī ḥālatun
tūḥishunī mithlul jafā
I have no condition
I miss you like a stranger
فَكُلُّ مَنْ عَنَّفَنِي
فِي حُبِّهِ مَا أَنْصَفَا
fakullu man ʿannafanī
fī ḥubbihi mā anṣafā
So everyone who abused me
In his love, he was not fair
لِلّهِ خِلٌّ صَادِقٌ
عَهِدْتُهُ عَلَى الوَفَا
lillāhi khillun ṣādiqun
ʿahidtuhu ʿalal wafā
God has a true friend
I promised him loyalty
وَصَفَهُ الوَاصِفُ لِي
وَهُوَ عَلَى مَا وَصَفَا
waṣafahul wāṣifu lī
wahuwa ʿalā mā waṣafā
The describer described it to me
And it is as described
أَسْقَمَنِي هِجْرَانُهُ
فَكَانَ بِالوَصْلِ الشِّفَا
asqamanī hijrānuhu
fakāna bil waṣlish shifā
His abandonment made me sick
So, the cure was through union.
إِذَا أَسَأْتُ أَدَبِي
فِي حَقِّهِ عَنِّي عَفَا
idhā asa’tu adabī
fī ḥaqqihi ʿannī ʿafā
If I misbehave
He forgave me for his right
بِـهِ اَغْتَنَيْتُ فَهْوَ لِي
غِنًى وَحَسْبِي وَكَفَى
bihi aghtanaytu fahwa lī
ghinan waḥasbī wakafā
I became rich with it, so it is mine
Rich and sufficient for me
يَا أَيُّهَا البَرْقُ الَّذِي
مِنْ حَيِّهِ قَدْ رَفْرَفَا
yā ayyuhal barqul ladhī
min ḥayyihi qad rafrafā
O lightning that
From his neighborhood, they fluttered
أَظْهَرْتَ مِنْ وَجْدِي الَّذِي
فِي مُهْجَتِي قَدِ اخْتَفَى
aẓharta min wajdīl ladhī
fī muhjatī qadikh tafā
You showed me my sorrow
In my heart he has disappeared
ذَكَّرْتَنِي عَهْداً مَضَى
وَطِيبَ عَيْشٍ سَلَفَا
dhakkartanī ʿahdan maḍā
waṭība ʿayshin salafā
You reminded me of a bygone era
And a good life ahead
كُنْتُ بِهِ فِي غِبْطَةٍ
بِبُرْدِهَا مُلْتَحِفَا
kuntu bihi fī ghibṭatin
biburdihā multaḥifā
I was so happy with him
Covered with her cold
يَدُورُ فِيمَا بَيْنَنَا
كَأْسٌ مِنَ الوُدِّ صَفَا
yadūru fīmā baynanā
ka sun minal wuddi ṣafā
It revolves around us
A pure cup of love
طَابَتْ بِهِ أَرْوَاحُنَا
وَهَمُّهَــــا قَـــــدِ انْتَــــــفَـى
ṭābat bihi arwāḥunā
wahammuhā qadin tafā
Our souls were satisfied with it
Her worries are gone
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ المُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
Oh our Lord, oh our Lord
We are sick of the proximity of the Chosen One
فَإِنَّهُ زَادَتْ بهِ الـ
أَرْواحُ مِنَّا شَغَفَـــــــــــا
fa innahu zādat bhil
arwāḥu minnā shaghafā
It increased the
Souls from us are passionate
فَارْحَم إِلهِي ضَعْفَنَا
فَنَحْنُ قَومٌ ضُعَفَا
far ḥam ilhī ḍaʿfanā
fanaḥnu qawmun ḍuʿafā
Have mercy, my God, on our weakness
We are a weak people
لا نَسْتَطِيعُ الصَّبْرَ عَنْ
مَحْبُوبِنَا وَلَا الجَفَا
lā nastaṭīʿuṣ ṣabra ʿan
maḥbūbinā walal jafā
We can't be patient about
Our beloved, not the estrangement
فَاكْشِفْ إِلَهِي ضُرَّنَا
يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ قَدْ كَشَفَا
fak shif ilahī ḍurranā
yā khayra man qad kashafā
So, my God, relieve our distress
O best of those who have revealed
وَامْنُنْ عَلَيْنَا بِلِقَا الـ
مَحْبُوبِ جَهْراً وَخَفَا
wam nun ʿalaynā biliqal
maḥbūbi jahran wakhafā
And grant us the meeting of the
Beloved openly and secretly
وصَلِّ يَا رَبِّ عَلَى
أَعْلَى البَرَايَا شَرَفًا
wṣalli yā rabbi ʿalā
aʿlal barāyā sharafan
And pray, O Lord, upon
The most honorable of all creatures
