How Many Blessings You Have Upon Me
Muhammad Ibn Al-Habib
Allahu Allahu Allahu rabbi
ʿawnī wa ḥasbī mālī siwa
Allah Allah, My Lord
My aid and my sufficiency
separator
kam laka min niʿmatin ʿalayya
wa lam tazal muḥsinan ilayya
How many blessings You have bestowed upon me!
And you continue to be generous and kind towards me
ghadhaytanī fīl ḥashājanīnā
wa kunta lī qabla wal idayya
You nourished me (while I was yet) a foetus in the womb
You were with me before my two parents
khalaqtanī musliman wa lawlā
faḍluka lam aʿrifin nabiyya
You created me a Muslim, and were it not
for Your grace, I would not know the Prophet
asjudu ḥaqqan ʿalā jabīnī
naʿam wa khaddī wa nāẓiriyā
I prostrate, in truth, upon my forehead
yes, and my cheeks and eyes
yārabbi ṣalli ʿalān nabiyyi
mātuliyat sūratul mathānī
O Lord, shower blessings upon the Prophet
as long as the Oft-Repeated Sura' is recited
wa ālihi waṣ ṣaḥābi ṭurran
mārabiḥan naāsu bil īmāni
And his family and Companions as well
as long as people profit from faith
wa aṭlubul ḥaqqi fīs saʿādah
likulli man ḍammahu zamānī
I ask Allah the Truth that happiness might come
to all those who live in this my time.
